If a life-threatening emergency cannot wait, go straight to the nearest 24-hour emergency animal hospital.
Signs that need care now
When in doubt, call. If your pet shows any of these, reach us or an emergency hospital right away rather than waiting to see if it passes.
- Trouble breathing, choking, or collapse
- Repeated vomiting, bloating, or a hard belly
- A bad injury, heavy bleeding, or a suspected fracture
- A rabbit or small pet that has stopped eating
- Straining to urinate, especially in male cats
- Suspected poisoning or a swallowed object
